Flight tickets, cruise bookings, and car rentals may include government-imposed taxes, airport charges, and service fees. These costs vary depending on your travel itinerary, destination, and selected services, and may change without prior notice.

Airline Taxes & Government Fees

Below is a general overview of commonly applicable airline and government charges.

U.S. Excise Tax (U.S. Domestic Transportation Tax) Applied to flights within the U.S. and within designated buffer zones near Canada and Mexico. U.S. Domestic US 7.5% of airfare*
Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Airport-imposed fee used for facility improvements. A maximum of four PFCs may be charged per itinerary. Per Arrival in the U.S. XF $4.50 per charge*
September 11th Security Fee Charged for enhanced aviation security measures. U.S. Domestic and International AY $5.60 per one-way trip (Max $11.20 round trip)*
U.S. International Transportation Tax Levied on all international flights arriving in or departing from the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands. International US $21.10
U.S. APHIS Fee Applied to international flights originating outside the U.S. (except Canada) arriving in the U.S. or its territories. International XA $3.83
U.S. Immigration User Fee Charged on all international arrivals to the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands. International XY $7.00

Exceptions to Air Transaction Service Fees

Certain bookings may include higher service fees based on itinerary complexity or fare type:

Business & First Class

Service fees may be charged up to $100 per passenger

Multi-City Itineraries

Complex travel plans may incur fees up to $100 per passenger

Multi-Airline / High-Risk Routes

Multiple airlines or high-risk routes may include fees up to $30 per passenger

Service Fees

The following online service fees apply per booking type and are charged at the time of reservation.

  • All service fees will be converted into your local currency at checkout.
  • * Passenger categories include adults, children, infants, students, seniors, and military personnel. Service fees are typically non-refundable and may change without prior notice.
  • If cancellation occurs within 24 hours of booking, service fees may be refundable. After 24 hours, non-refundable rules apply.
  • The amount displayed at checkout reflects your final total — no hidden charges.

◊ Additional Service Fee Variations

The following additional fees may apply depending on booking type, travel route, and passenger requirements:

  • Up to $50 per passenger for online vacation package bookings
  • Up to $200 per passenger for business or first-class airfare bookings
  • Up to $100 for multi-city or open-jaw travel routes
  • Up to $40 per passenger on high-fraud-risk destinations
  • Up to $55 per passenger when choosing flexible travel options (alternate dates / nearby airports)
  • Up to $200 per passenger for cruise bookings
  • Up to $100 service fee for unaccompanied minor bookings
  • Contact Center Service Fees: Phone-assisted bookings may incur higher service fees due to itinerary complexity. Charges may range from $15–$250 per passenger (or up to $125 for seniors).
